(EN). Camilla Carrara is not even 30 years old, but she already has very clear ideas. In 2016 She founded 0/100, her eco-luxury fashion brand. Where “Zero” means reducing waste, pollution and emissions to the lowest terms, “One Hundred” to indicate not only a product 100% Made in Italy, but also completely sustainable and traceable.
Regenerated fabrics and the innovative “zero-waste” technique, an approach that is already being designed to minimize the waste on fabric pieces, confer to Camilla the prestigious Recycling Design Preis award promoted by the Martha Herford Museum in collaboration with Sparkasse. Further recognition by Manufactum and Messe Frankfurt offers the opportunity to show the collection during the Berlin Fashion Week, in the section dedicated to sustainable fashion.
From there it is an escalation of successes, Camilla does not mistaken a collection. Also in 2016 comes the invitation to participate in the Oscedays in Berlin, a kind of general states of the circular economy, and is among the 28 finalists of the contest Mad Mood, an event dedicated to the combination of fashion and food. Starting from the poor elements of Mediterranean cuisine, the fashion designer creates a dress inspired by the overlapping layers of the onions.
In October 2016, Camilla’s passion for fashion arrives to the far north of Europe, so much so that the history of her brand becomes a case study during the seminar “Facing the Fashion Paradigm Shift – The Relevance of Sustainability” promoted from the Swedish Embassy in Berlin and sponsored by Queen Sylvia of Sweden. In November of that year she took part in the Budapest Fashion Week, the main event of the sector in Hungary.
A slow and constant growth that also gives Camilla a stake in the Berlin Fashion Film Festival, with a documentary film inspired by her history, several appearances on the Italian media and a discussion on the future of fashion promoted by SDA Bocconi.
Great sensitivity to the environment, an ethical approach to work and a great talent allow Camilla to create extremely contemporary clothes that have nothing to envy to those of known brands. The silhouette of outerwear and dresses drapes soft around the body, the games of pleats and overlays allow to contain the maxi-volumes and geometric shapes of clear oriental inspiration.
Beige, grey and blue are the predominant tones in the 2018 winter collection, but a careful glance will not escape the brushstrokes of color, blue, red and green, which give character to the garments. The trousers fall fluid, the high belts mark the waist while large necks and kimono sleeves make the rigour of the models more feminine. A tribute to Japanese culture reinterpreted in a Western key.

CHATTING WITH CAMILLA
Where does your passion for fashion come from?
I think that this passion has always been inside me, since when I was a child I stole the clothes of mom or I created new ones using small pieces of fabric. In the university years I studied fashion design at the Polytechnic and then I deepened the sustainability in the Master’s degree from Esmod in Berlin in 2015. A fundamental year spent in Germany, a training course at 360 degrees that, alongside the theoretical notions, has also foreseen a lot of practice and comparison with the market.
Why did you feel the need to create your own brand?
Initially this was not in the plans, I thought I was working in a brand as a designer, but then I realized that I could offer something different. In Berlin I learned and then personalized the zero-waste design, strictly without waste of fabric. The pieces created using patterns with zero-waste design are manually adapted to the manikin, intervening with folds, pleats and stretching without cutting until obtaining the ideal fit. The model is inserted in digital only later. Creativity is modulating around the goal of not generating scraps of fabric in a process that, far from being limiting, becomes rather stimulating.
Do you do everything yourself or do you have a team that supports you?
Currently it is me and my sister, plus some external collaborators to project.
Is there any stylist who has influenced your style?
The designers that inspired me are Armani, Isabel Marant and Thayaht.
Let’s talk some of the winter collection. What are you inspired by?
For Autumn-Winter 2018/19, Zerobarracento proposes a contemporary and sophisticated collection, conceived for a dynamic and modern woman. The color palette ranges from grey to beige, to blue, but there are notes of colour, especially blues, reds and greens. The shapes alternate soft lines, created by the same fabrics, to other geometric ones that embrace the figure and the feminine shapes in a skilful game of pleats, lacing and folds. The game of contrasts continues also on the side of inspiration: a contemporary allure meets elements of the Japanese tradition. Also for this season I chose the technique of “zerowaste”, thanks to which the patterns are developed to go to use the whole fabric. On the side of sustainability, on the other hand, the attention is on the materials, completely traceable and always distinctive mark of the brand.
Is there a piece that represents you the most?
Each piece has its uniqueness and, in my opinion, a raison d’être. But my passion is coats and outerwear in general. A garment that is in my opinion the key to the wardrobe.
If I had to recommend a Zerobarracento outfit to the readers, which match would you choose?
One of our oversized coats in very hot wool matched to a mini and top in Jacquard by Newlife ™.
Where can I find your models for sale?
Currently online on our site and in events here in Milan, last November 11 we were at Chez Babette, and we are organizing other dates in late November and December.
Plans for the future?
Going ahead with the research of materials and open an atelier in Milan, with the possibility of customizing garments.
Milan, New York, London or Paris… On which walkway would you like to parade?
Of instinct I would say Paris, but for DNA push on Made in Italy, then I would choose Milan. The enhancement of the fashion chain is for me priority.
(IT).

A cosa ti sei ispirata?
Dove è possibile trovare in vendita i tuoi modelli?
Milano, New York, Londra o Parigi…
